SCMA Education Fund
The Southern California Mediation Association, through its non-profit tax exempt SCMA Education Fund, is supporting public education about conflict resolution by providing non-profit institutions with books, tapes, and other materials to increase awareness about and encourage the use of mediation and other methods of conflict resolution to resolve disputes.
The Fund's SCMA/Forrest S. Mosten Conflict Resolution Libraries Project both honors, and is the vision of, Forrest S. ("Woody") Mosten. Its purpose is to provide initial funding for libraries, community mediation centers, and other non-profit organizations to establish mediation libraries to serve the public throughout Southern California.
On December 17, 2009 the Western Justice Center Foundation dedicated its SCMA/Forrest S. Mosten Conflict Resolution Library. The Fund has also to date made a grant to the California State University Dominguez Hills Negotiation, Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding Program, and a grant to the Sunday Free Legal Clinic at First AME Church of Los Angeles.
If you support a non-profit organization that would like to establish a Conflict Resolution Library and apply for a grant, please contact me, Barbara Brown, President of the SCMA Education Fund at BBrown@BrownMediation.com or (310) 312-3242.
We also ask for your financial support of our effort. You can make a tax deductible donation by using the donation form on page two of the Education Fund Brochure. We appreciate any amount large or small to buy books, dvds and other materials for people going through conflict, particularly the underserved.
